Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar, one of the American and British sitarist. She was the first person of her generation to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing around from London and New Delhi. She gave her debut performance in New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful music and acting career, even though she's only a teenager. She often joins her father on stage, which she has been doing for quite a few years. In 1998 she released her debut solo album Anourag. The following year, she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. As she's appeared on all the major stages in the world, her career on stage is extensive. Anoushka isn't just a performer. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biography she wrote in 2002. It is a tribute to her late father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a movie in 2003. The role she played was that of a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to unfold and we are likely to see a variety of things from her in the years to follow. Anoushka spent a lot of time between London and Delhi in her early years. Later, she moved to California to finish high school. at the age of nine, she started studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. As a part of her dad's band as he toured the world Anoushka had a wealth of experiences appearing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as performing alongside George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent have been recognised by British Parliament as being among the top of the best in Asian Arts.
